Remodeling Your Master Bedroom
As we spend at least a third of our lives asleep, remodeling the master bedroom may not always be on the top of everyone's to-do list but why shouldn't we all have a pleasant room to sleep in. However, this is a recent occurrence as homeowners have begun to seen the benefits of improving this room and what it can be used for. In some places in Europe, Italy and France for example, the bedroom has always been a sensual place and other Western Countries are beginning to see the appeal in this.
The main aspect of change if you remodel your master bedroom in to a more sensual place is the color scheme and you can achieve this by using shades of red, cream and peach. The addition of oval mirrors can help create beautiful reflections when candles are placed close to them. If you are fond of candlelight then the addition of strategically placed mirrors will give a dramatic effect that could not be done with conventional lighting.
Obviously the room lighting is important as it shouldn't be too bright but at the same time not to dim either, so plenty of soft lighting is the best compromise. Traditionally to achieve the best effect in a room for reading in you should look towards the softer shades of ivory, amber and slate blue. Remodeling the master bedroom ‘come sanctuary' is quite an easy remodeling with only large pillows or cushions, a throw or two needed; with perhaps a landscape or seascape picture which can be reflected in a mirror to complete the conversion.
If you add the comfortable chair and a standing lamp then you will have a retreat that also doubles as a reading room. This feeling of sanctuary which you are hoping to achieve when you remodel your master bedroom can be helped by having family photos spread around the room, but in period frames which help provide that sense of history. The most comfortable colors for a sanctuary style room are darker shades like chocolate brown, deep greens and cobalt blues which help make the room feel cozy.
Where space is not a problem then by placing a small television or writing desk, it can make the master bedroom feel like a place that you can completely retire to. If you are going this far then why not add a mini fridge and drink making facility which could turn your bedroom into a the equivalent of a personally designed hotel suite. Unlike other rooms in your home, remodeling the master bedroom can be allowed a great deal of flexibility; however, beware you don't go too far and find that once in there you don't have much of a reason to leave it.
